House. Early C18 with Cl9 and C20 additions. Coursed squared gritstone,
graduated stone slate and grey slate roofs. 3-storey principal bay with 2-
storey 1-bay addition to left. Principal bay: plinth, raised quoins. Board
door in stone surround left, 3-light flat-faced mullion window to right. 3-
light flat-faced mullion window lights upper floors, with a transom
indicating floor level. First-floor band; shaped kneelers, gable coping,
end stack right. Bay to left: C20 lean-to covering door, repositioned stone
lettered 'R M' (Robert Myers) at first-floor level; square window in stone
surround first floor left. End stack left. Rear, main range: left: 2-light
mullion and transom window under outshut; right: 2-light mullion window with
2 transoms in stair tower. Interior: not inspected at resurvey but reported
to contain original staircase with splat balusters and 2 pairs of upper
crucks with king blocks. The house is on the site of an earlier house built
for Robert Myers (c1635). North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular
Buildings Study Group Report No 557 (Dec 1978).
