House. Late C17 - early C18. Brick in English bond, pantile roof. 3-cell
lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys, 4 bays. C20 panelled door in third bay
flanked by casements in slightly enlarged openings beneath basket arches.
Small casement to left beneath similar arch with evidence for earlier window
above. First-floor band. Four 2-light casements to first floor break
dentilled eaves course and are probably inserted. Sprocketed eaves, raised
gable end to right, ridge stack. Tumbling-in to gable ends. Interior:
dining room retains hand cut cross beam and joists, with evidence for former
partition between houseplace and parlour. Inserted staircase to left end.
Bressumer to fireplace in dining room chamfered on inner face. Small salt
cupboard with butterfly hinges to left of fireplace. Stack clearly visible
on landing above. Extensions to rear not of special interest. North
Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group report number 569.
