3 attached houses. c1859. By William Butterfield. Red brick in
English bond with ashlar dressings to windows and sill band. Tile roof.
One and a half storeys, 4 bays. Appletree Cottage is entered at left
gable end, and Village Farmhouse at right gable end. The entrance to
Elm Tree Cottage is to left of centre window, in front facade. It has a
plank door and a steeply gabled timber framed porch over. 3 ground
floor windows, each with 3 pointed lights and stone mullions with iron
6-pane casements. At first floor a large timber framed panel rises into
a half-hipped dormer in centre, with 2 small 8-light casements. To each
side a gabled dormer with 8-light casement; probably an original frame
on right. Half-hipped roof; 2 chimneys straddle the roof and are
stepped with tumbled-in brickwork.
