House. Lintel dated 'W G 1619'. C19 alterations. Coursed gritstone, stone
slate roof. Baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. 4-panel
door to left of right window, shallow pointed arch to lintel. To right -
4-light double-chamfered mullion window; the centre mullion removed and a
horizontal sliding sash inserted. C20 French window to left of door and
4-panel sash with splayed incised lintel left again. First-floor windows -
left to right: two 4-pane sashes with splayed lintels; small squared
chamfered window; 2-light double-chamfered mullion window (formerly
4-light), with 4 panes and horizontal-sliding sash. Ashlar coping, shaped
kneelers, large stack over door, and to left end. Interior: open fire place
next to entrance, remains of stone spiral stair against centre of rear wall.
There is slight evidence for a blocked arch in the front wall, where the C19
windows were inserted. This may be an early example of a laithe house,
before the C19 alterations.
