House. C17 with later alterations. Coursed sandstone rubble, stone slate
roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Large quoins. Bay 2 has a storied porch with
entrance converted to a window. Ground floor windows all C20, left to
right: a tripartite sash, a 16-pane sash, French windows, a 2-light and
3-light casement. Upper floor has C20, 16-pane sashes in earlier openings
with stone sills and incised lintels. Shaped kneelers, ashlar coping,
corniced ridge stack to right of former porch. Interior: remains of timber
wall posts and cross beams suggest that an earlier timber-framed building
was encased in stone. Floor joists in central living room have,scarfed
joints at the point where they may formerly have been attached to a timber
fire-hood. C19 kitchen wing to rear, attached stable range to left and
single-storey outshut to right not of special interest.
