16/53 Blacksmith's Shop
GV II
Smithy. Early C19 with later alteration. Hammer-dressed sandstone with
pantile roof and brick stack. Single-storey, 8-bay range. Renewed board
doors to centre left and to centre. Centre left door flanked by 3-light
horizontal-sliding sashes with tall louvred glazing: 2-light fixed window
with similar glazing to left of centre door. Original cart arches to right
now blocked by a double board door on L-hinges and a 3-light fixed window:
similar 2-light window at end right. Stone sills to all windows. Eaves
guttering carried on wrought-iron brackets. Coped gable to left and left-
of-centre stack. Mounting block at right-of-centre door. Included for
group value.
