Lockton House Farmhouse
and Byre

GV II

House and byre. C17 in origin remodelled in late C18 with early C19
addition and byre to left. Vestigial cruck frame, sandstone ashlar, pantile
roof. Linear arrangement of byre, single-cell extension and 3-cell direct
entry main house. 2 storeys to house, 3 first floor windows to main house,
one to extension, single storey barn. Main house: board door with 2 2-light
Yorkshire sashes to left and one to right. Further board door to left
probably inserted at time of building of extension which has board door with
3-light Yorkshire sash to right and inserted casement to left. Massive
stone lintels throughout to ground floor. Byre: 2 board doors. First
floor: casements throughout. Gable coping, end and ridge stacks, that to
left of main house with moulded cornice. Steeply-pitched roof to byre.
Interior contains feet of one cruck truss in centre of main house, but apex
not seen.
