House and adjoining cottage. Mid - late C18 with C19 alterations. Hammer-
dressed sandstone faced to front with brick in English bond, plain tile
roof. End-entry cottage to left, central-entry house to right. 2 storey, 5
first-floor windows. To left: 4-fielded-panel door with two 16-pane sashes
to left. To right: 6-panel door flanked by 16-pane sashes, all beneath
wedge lintels. First floor: blocked window flanked by a 16-pane sash and a
2-light Yorkshire sash to left; sash with glazing bars flanked by 16-pane
sashes to right. Interior: bressumer to kitchen fireplace, and closed-
string column-on-vase staircase to Holme Farmhouse. Hudson Cottage was the
birthplace of George Hudson, "The Railway King" (1800-1871).
