Farmhouse with attached stables and cart-sheds; now inn and outbuildings.
Late C18 with C19 and C20 alteration and extension. Squared sandstone, now
whitewashed; pantile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. Central-entry plan,
with outshut; extended later to right, and into outbuildings to left. 2 low
storeys, 2-window front, with single-storey extension to right; single-
storey range to left, the first bay now incorporated into house. Door of
raised and fielded panelling to right of replacement top-opening light.
Remaining - windows are 2-light horizontal sliding sashes. Ground-floor
lintels are tooled, those to first floor timber. Plank door to extension to
right, with 4-pane sash to right, both with timber lintels. Stepped eaves
course. End left and centre right stacks. First bay of range to left has a
plank door with timber lintel to right of 2-light, large-pane horizontal
sliding sash, and stack to left. Interior: exposed beams with beaded
moulding to ground floor. Door to right of entrance of 4 raised and fielded
panels. Other doors are plank with H and L hinges. In the second room to
the left is a fine C19 range by Candler of Scarborough, with crane and
reckon, still in use. The ladder stair to loft above survives.
