House of early C19 appearance, possibly early C18 core, now two dwellings.
Rougly-tooled coursed sandstone, Chiltern now covered in incised rendering.
Pantiled roofs with stone coping and kneelers, brick and rendered stacks. 2
storeys, attic and basement, 1 wide bay each. 4 shared steps up to paired
4-panel doors in centre. Chiltern, at right, has 3-light stone-mullioned
basement window and late C19 ground-floor canted oriel with cornice and lead
roof; later C19 first-floor sash with side margins and projecting cill.
Stormville has heavy old door lintel with name on inserted stone plaque above.
Left of door a small pent extension has a boarded door in its left return;
basement window to left, a renewed horizontal sash. Small casements on ground
and first floors. Coved eaves. Both houses have circa 1900 dormers with paired
sashes and deep bracketed soffit. Right end brick chimney; left end coping on
kneelers, rendered chimney. Left return shows boarded basement door, modern
ground-floor windows and early Cl9 attic sash. Entrance to Rothwell Cottage
(q.v.) in rear wall of Chiltern.
