Folly. c.1832 incorporating probably C14 remains. Magnesian limestone
ashlar with brick patching. Gothic. Oblong on plan. 1 tall storey. To
right side, chamfered plinth surmounted by narrow angle pilaster buttresses
with pinnacles. Central entrance a 4-centre-headed arch with roll-moulding
and chamfered jambs. Above are 3 heraldic shields. To lake front: similar
pilaster buttresses to ends. 2 pointed windows under flat heads with
trefoils in the spandrels and with badly-eroded tracery. To rear: window
with reticulated tracery. Windows reputed to have come from York Minster
after fire of 1829.
