Trinity House
GV II
Formerly house, now part of public house. Late C18 or early
C19. Flemish bond brickwork, asbestos-cement slate roof. A
double-depth plan with symmetrical frontage; the original
building has been extended to the N in 2 bays, with return
facing the harbour, in careful matching detail, and the rear
elevation is covered at ground floor level by a late C20
triple-gabled glazed extension.
To Trinity Street the original building is in 2 storeys with
attic, 3 windows; 2 flat-roofed 2-light casement dormers above
12-pane sashes in plain reveals, to wide splayed voussoirs and
stone sills. The central 4-panel door is in a thin pilaster
surround with consoles to a moulded cornice. A small painted
stone plinth, painted mid plat band, moulded cornice, and
rebuilt blocking-course with parapet. There are 4 brick gable
stacks. The C20 extension is slightly set back in plane from
the early building, and has 2 oriels above a wide ground floor
multiple sash window.
The rear has 2 small dormers above a 12-pane sash and a bold
canted 8:12:8-pane oriel to a panelled frieze and lead flat
roof. Between these is a 12-pane sash to the staircase, at
lower level.
INTERIOR not inspected.
