The Mill House

Detached house, formerly that of the owner of Sutton Mill
(qv). Mid C18, restored 1992. Coursed and squared Portland
stone, rubble returns, slate roof. The property lies
immediately S of Sutton Mill (qv), and backs immediately on
the stream, with the mill leat passing across the front in a
culvert.
2 storeys, symmetrical 3 windows; 12-pane sashes in flush
moulded boxes, stone voussoirs, wood sills. The 6-panel C19
door is in an arched opening with brick dressings. There are 2
gable stacks, and a ridge stack to the left of entry. Left
gable is plain. The right half has a parallel rear range with
a small 2-light C18 window in the gable at first floor, and
three 2-lights to the rear. A lean-to slated addition fills
the internal angle facing the stream.
