GV II

Cottage. Probably C18, refurbished in mid C19. Plastered granite; granite stack
with plastered brick chimney shaft; thatch roof.
Plan: House faces south-west and has a double depth 2-room plan. The main front
rooms comprise a small unheated room to left and a larger right room with gable end
stack. This latter room may have been enlarged to include the original entrance
lobby and stairwell. Narrow service rooms across rear. Former rear service block,
now converted to a garage, projects at right angles to rear. 2 storeys.
Exterior: symmetrical 2-window front of mid C19 casements with glazing bars, the
tall first floor windows with pointed arch heads rising into the thatch as half
dormers. Central plank door is probably C20 gabled and slate-roofed porch. Roof is
gable-ended to right and half-hipped to left.
Interior has been somewhat rearranged in C20 although the basic plain carpentry
detail appears to be C18. Roof not inspected.
