5/10 Cross of St. Paulinus
13.2.67
II
Cross, assumed to be ancient (VCH Vol. 7, p.2) but possibly a C19th
replacement. Sandstone. The socketed base is roughly squared and stands
on 2 squared boulders. The shaft is very short and branches into a Y shape
immediately above the arms of the cross. Its unusual shape suggests that the
stone may have come from a building and was inverted when re-used.
