9/156 Crookholme Mill

II

Disused watermill. Late C18 or early C19. Mixed sandstone rubble and river
cobbles, with flush red sandstone quoins, on chamfered plinth. Hipped graduated
greenslate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays in L-shape with extension to left. Steps up
to half-plank door in stone surround under slated loading porch. Metal casement
windows with horizontal metal bars. Stone-slated wheel house to right, over
mill race, contains the metal remains of an undershot wheel. Much of the
internal machinery survives. Derelict and unoccupied at time of survey.
