Barber Surgeon's hall, now part of church school. Circa 1850 by John Dobson for
Company of Barber Surgeons. Sandstone ashlar with long horizontal quoins; roof
not visible; felt-covered lantern. 2 storeys, 1:3:1 bays. South ground floor
openings blocked, except for central window converted to entrance, and obscured
by later school building; first floor has sash windows with glazing bars, the 3
central recessed and arcaded with impost bands and scrolled keys; DE
PRESCENTIA DEI inscribed around central of 3 round window heads with hollow-
chamfered reveals; staff of Aesculapius in spandrels; keyed architraves to sashes
in outer bays. Cornice and high parapet with pilasters and blocks. High
gambrel-shaped lantern for throwing light on dissecting table in demonstration
room.
