House and cottage. House C17, cottage added in C18. Later additions and
alterations. Wet-dashed rubble on plinth. Graduated slate roofs with rendered
mid and end chimneys (projecting chimney to rear house wing). 2 storeys with
cellars to cottage. House 3 bays. Central full-height porch has panelled outer
door in an architrave with (re-used?) segmental pediment enclosing winged head;
small casement above. Original plank inner door, with strap hinges, in
chamfered frame. C20 casement to either side on each floor. Cottage, adjoining
to left, 2 bays. Glazed door and rectangular fanlight with sash to left and 2
sashes above. North return has 2 sashes, with original wide glazing bars, to
each floor and 2 blocked 2-light stone-mullioned cellar windows; 2 similar
cellar windows to stair wing at rear. Interior. House: Closed string, dog-leg
stair with turned balusters and moulded handrail; square newels with ball
finials. Moulded lintel to kitchen fireplace; remains of screen (?). Some
remains of 1st floor plaster cornices. Cottage: Closed string, dog-leg stair
with corkscrew balusters and moulded handrails; square newels (ball finials
missing). Panelled ground floor front room features a semicircular-headed niche
in pilastered surround; wooden cornices.
