NY 44 SE HESKET CALTHWAITE

House. Early C19. Grey sandstone ashlar with string courses and parapet, on
chamfered plinth. Hipped graduated greenslate roof with candlestick chimney
stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays with lower 2-bay left wing. Panelled double doors in
pointed arch and pointed side lights, all within projecting Gothic
pointed-arched porch. Casement windows, some with glazing bars, in chamfered
surrounds under hoodmoulds. Right return wall has central canted bay window,
with pointed Gothic windows, and flanking windows under hoodmoulds. Extension
has 2-light windows under hoodmoulds. The house as it stands was advertised for
sale in the Carlisle Journal 9 February 1849.
