Village Hall, formerly school. 2 dates on inner door lintel: 1684, with
initials R.S. (for the Reverend Randal Sanderson who endowed the school) and
1702, contained in a Greek inscription. A Roman letter
inscription over one if the windows reads "Them that are meek the Lord shall
guide in judg-/ment, & such as are gentle, them shall he learn his way." Mixed
material, squared, coursed rubble and blocks, with quoins. Graduated slate roof
has stone kneelers and coping to north gable. Single storey, 3 bays. Entrance
on east side, through added porch. C19 two-light mullioned windows are
diamond-leaded. 3-light window in north gable is reused from Crosby Ravenworth
parish church. Stepped chimney to eaves on east side, gabled bellcote to north
gable.
