The White House

Farmhouse. Dated and inscribed on rear datestone THIS HOUSE WAS BUILT BY THOMAS
BARROW IN THE YEAR 1737, with late C18 alterations. Roughcast walls with
painted V-jointed quoins and red sandstone eaves cornice. Grey slate roof, the
bottom courses of sandstone slates with coped gables and kneelers; banded red
sandstone chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Centre C20 door in chamfered
painted stone surround. Sash windows with glazing bars are double except for
that over entrance, all in late C18 painted stone surrounds. Rear has C20 door
in early C18 stone surround. Yorkshire sash windows and flat stone-mullioned
windows in C18 surrounds.
