3/126 Low Brown Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Probably early C18 with C19 extensions. Stone rubble, coursed to
later parts with ashlar dressings, slate roof. South-east elevation of 2
storeys and 7 bays, the 1st, 6th and 7th bays later. 2nd to 5th bays have
2-light windows with flat-faced mullions and fillet to surrounds; fire window to
5th bay. 1st bay has casement window to ground floor. 6th and 7th bays have
plain surrounds and 20-pane sashes. Entrance between 5th and 6th bays has
small-paned side light. 2 cross-axial stacks with coved cornices and gable-end
stack. Rear has entrance, the stop chamfered lintel with escutcheon inscribed:
"E &HSH", 20-pane sash above and similar windows to 2-bay lean-to outshut to
left; 4-bay outshut to right, 2-bays under catslide roof, small-paned casements
and sash; fillets to surrounds; 2-bays raised under flat roof; C20 casements and
entrance.
