Parish Church. 1868-70 by Cory and Ferguson of Carlisle. Rock-faced
calciferous sandstone with string courses and clasping buttresses. Graduated
greenslate roof with coped gables and cross finials. Cruciform, Neo-Norman,
with apse. Nave has south porch with C19 zigzag arches on engaged columns. All
windows are round-headed with engaged columns. Large square tower has mosaic
clockface under 4-light bell openings on south side South transept has reused
C12 zigzag-arched doorway from the old church and a built-in armorial stone from
a tomb in the old church. Against the apse wall are 8 grave slabs and 2 Roman
quern stones.
