6/1 Railway overbridge
at NY 770075

II

Rail overbridge. 1860-1 by Sir Thomas Bouch for the South Lancashire and Durham
Union Railway. Coursed squared puddingstone (limestone) with sandstone dressings.
Five elliptical arches. Large abutment piers with quoins and projecting capping.
The arch piers have imposts, the arches have well-cut voussoirs. Continuous
cornice, dressed parapet. A well-preserved example of a large road bridge on this line.
