Farmhouse. Late C17 with mid or late C18 alterations and additions. Facade of
English garden wall bond brickwork on chamfered stone plinth with V-jointed
painted quoins, rear wall of painted render over clay; extension of red
sandstone coursed rubble with V-jointed painted quoins, rear wall is probably
also of clay; graduated green slate roof, brick chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3
bays; single bay extension to right under common roof. 6-panel door in painted
stone architrave. Sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone architraves.
The name Down Hall comes from the medieval manor house site, north of this
house. Outbuildings are not of interest.
