Farmhouse and adjoining barn. Mid C17. Whitewashed rendered walls on boulder
plinth, under graduated greenslate roof with rebuilt slate chimney stacks. Barn
of slate and cobble rubble. 2 storeys, 3 bays with barn to left under common
roof. Plank door within C17 gabled stone porch with side seats. Casement
windows with glazing bars, and to left of porch a sash with glazing bars, all in
plain reveals. Barn has front plank double doors and rear recessed doorway.
One C17 wooden mullioned window. Interior of house has beamed ground-floor
ceilings and a built-in court cupboard inscribed and dated G. & M.W. 1691
(Gawine & Mary Wren). Court cupboard illustrated in, Shelagh Sutton, The story
of Borrowdale, 1974, p14.
