Former coastguard's houses. Circa 1835. Flemish bond brick front over granite
ashlar plinth, rusticated chamfered granite quoins, granite sills, flat brick arches
and wide eaves at the front carried on shaped brackets, panelled under soffits.
Asbestos slate roof, hipped at the front and rear. 2 brick chimneys over side wall,
right. Hipped roof dormer to each hip.
Plan: 2 identical houses with entrances and passages in the middle, each house with
front room, stair hall behind and service room behind the stair hall.
Exterior : 2 storeys plus attic. Symmetrical 3 window south front with paired
central doorways approached by flight of granite steps flanked by wrought iron
balustrades. Original 6-panel door with later glazed top panels, left, and C20 door
right. Window over doorway blind, otherwise circa late C19 or C20 horned sashes.
Some original 16-pane hornless sashes at rear.
Interior not inspected but said to be little altered in the C20.
