Farmhouse, now private house. Circa early to mid C17. Rendered stone rubble and
cob. Rag slate roof with gable ends continued over later rear outshut in catslide.
Brick end stack on left and projecting stone rubble end stack with brick shaft on
right. Brick axial stack on rear slope.
Plan: 2-room and cross or through passage plan heated by end stacks with larger
hall kitchen on left and parlour on right. Outshut service extension added across
rear probably in C18. Probably C18 framed stair to rear of passage.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 3 window front with entrance to right of centre with
C20 door and probably late C19 porch. C19 2-light casements to right and left and
on first floor, the lights partly replaced.
Interior: Left hand room has a chamfered lintel to the fireplace with ogee stops
and cloam oven. Beam above left hand side of passage is fairly large and chamfered
whilst the beams in the left hand room have been replaced probably in the C20 and
the ceiling is plastered in the passage and right hand room. Rare survival of
probably original rebated floorboards of elm and oak.
Roof structure: Circa later C17 roof, the principals with the apices not visible.
Cambered but roughly cut collars, partly halved lap-jointed and pegged onto face of
principals.
Complete and unaltered C17 house:
