Farmhouse. Probably C17 extended in C18. Rendered stone rubble and cob. Rag slate
roofs with gable ends; higher roof to cross wing on left with gable end to front.
Several early crested ridge tiles. Ashlar granite end stack with moulded cap on
right. Stone rubble axial stack near centre, truncated stone rubble side lateral
stack to cross wing on left and truncated stone rubble side lateral stack to kitchen
wing on rear.
Plan: Main range of 3-room and through passage plan. Entrance to right of centre
with lower end on right heated by end stack. Hall above passage on left heated by
axial stack backing onto passage and cross wing, probably a parlour wing, beyond to
left, originally heated by a side lateral stack. There is an unheated wing of one-
room plan continuing to the front of the cross wing. The purpose of this wing is
uncertain. Circa C17 kitchen wing to rear of hall, originally heated by side lateral
stack. Circa C18 outshut extensions to rear of cross wing and to rear of passage and
lower end. This outshut contains a stair to the rear of the lower end.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front. Entrance to right of centre
with C20 part glazed door. C19 3-light casement to right lighting lower end and early
C18 4-light casement to left with heavy glazing bars and early glass, lighting hall.
Three C19 4 over 8 pane sashes on first floor. The unheated wing to front left has a
plank door and 2-light casement in the right hand side and two small slit openings on
ground and first floor to left, possibly to light an early stair.
Interior: Only kitchen wing and passage inspected, where the earlier features have
been covered over, the fireplace blocked and the ceiling boarded. The owner states
that the earlier features in the house have been covered but remain intact.
