Methodist chapel and attached Sunday school. Built in 1872. Curved slate rubble
with grey and pink granite dressings. Steeply pitched slate roof with bands of
darker slates and gabled and polygonally hipped ends. Auditorium with apsided
east end, short transepts, organ chamber in small apse on west end, porch on
south side. Sunday school attached to west end of north side by lower linking
range. Gothic style. Auditorium and transepts have tall lancets, the transepts
have paired lancets with rose window shove in gable. The polygonal apses at
either end also have lancets that with simple plate tracery, the apse at east end
has butresses on corners and band of pink granite. Moulded string course around
the building at impact level, raised over windows as hoodmoulds. The porch on
south side has rose window and butresses on hal-hipped end and pointed arch
doorway on side.
The Sunday school is attched to north side by low linking range and has half-
hipped roof, large 5-light wooden window with transoms and leaded panes on east
side with hipped roof porch to right with painted arch doorway. Similar 3 light
window on north end and truneated lateral stack at rear (west).
Interior: Chapel roof has arch-braced collars with scissor braces above; simple
benches and hexagonal pulpit. The arch to the organ chamber at west end has
colonettes with stiff-leaf capitals and rebuilt organ projecting into auditorium.
Some late C20 stained glass. The Sunday school has scissor braced roof and
polygonal reading desk.
