Farmhouse. Circa 1700, possibly a remodelling of an earlier house, with C19
additions and alterations. Rendered stone rubble. Slate hung porch and rear
outshut. Rag slate roof with gabled ends and C19 crested ridge tiles. Rendered
gable end and axial stacks. Long 5-room plan house with outshut at rear to left
and right. 2 storeys. Not quite symmetrical 3 window south east front. C19
sashes with glazing bars, 16-panes to right and 20 pane sashes to left; first
floor left hand sash breaks eaves; slate sills. To right of centre a gabled 2-
storey porch, slate-hung on first floor with C19 16-pane sash and glazed on
ground floor with Cl9 half-glazed door with intersecting glazing bars in
fanlight.
On left, set back slightly with lower roof level a single storey and other range
with C20 plastic windows and C20 painted brick porch. At right hand end a small
C20 single storey outshut.
The main roof is carried down at rear over 2 storey outshuts. Left hand outshuts
is slate hung and has horizontally sliding sash with glazing bars and C29 star
window with stained glass margin faces. Between the outshuts a 16-pane sash on
first floor.
Interior: The lower right hand room is a fine parlour with bolection moulded
panelling and bolection chimneypiece and cornice over door. Hall has bolection
moulded panelled door and good circa 1700 dog-leg staircase with pulvinated and
cyma-moulded string, square newels, twisted balusters and moulded handrail. Left
hand room in main range has simple late C19 chimneypiece with console brackets
and C18 2-panel door to later second stairs.
First floor and roof structure not inspected.
