7/184 Brick kiln at SW60492991
-
II
Brick kiln, partly ruinous. Probably C18. Granite rubble walls with dressed granite jambstones to doorway. Parabola-domed brick roof with gravel and lime mortar covering. Round flue vent over the middle.Round plan with entrance to the south. Slightly battered walls. Left hand side of doorway fallen, the right hand side survives to over half its original height. The inside of the wall is brick lined and there is still a coating of tar over much
of the surface. This is a rare brick kiln in Cornwall, surviving fairly complete and situated in marginal farmland on the east slope of Tregonning Hill.
