Small house. Circa early C18. Granite rubble with partly dressed granite moorstone
quoins, jambstones and lintels; slate sills. Asbestos slate roof (originally
thatched) with granite chimneys over the gable ends; the right hand chimney
heightened with brick.
2 room plan with wider hall/kitchen left, parlour right, with lobby and straight
flight stair between. Extended with lean-to at the rear in the C19, now replaced
with new lean-to (1986). The kitchen has a large fireplace with bread oven and
fringle, the parlour has a C19 stone fireplace built in front of the original parlour
fireplace. There is a blocked doorway in the front wall near the kitchen fireplace,
possibly this house was a village bakehouse.
2 storeys. Slightly irregular 3 window west front with doorway and window over
slightly right of middle. The ground floor left hand window is near the doorway and
farther to the left is a blocked doorway. Circa early C20 glazed porch in front of
the main doorway. C20 door. The windows are 6-pane horned sashes, copies of
replaced circa late C19 sashes.
Interior has most carpentry and joinery replaced in 1986 but some C19 beams retained.
The kitchen fireplace opening is spanned by a thick oak lintel.
