II
Farmhouse, circa mid-C17. Rubble stone with granite dressed window openings to
south. Scantle slate roof with gabled end to east and hipped onwest end with brick
stacks at ends some handmade serrated ridge tiles. Projecting wing to rear
converted from dairy and apple chamber and incorporated into house, stone base with
cob upper walls. Single depth, 3-cell plan with cross passage and staircase
projection on rear. Projecting dairy wing to rear forms L-shape. 2 storeys,
regular 4-window front. Ground floor with two 2-light hollow chamfered granite
mullioned windows with hood moulds and plain label stops. Casements with glazing
bars in opening. Partly glazed C20 entrance door with granite quoins and hood
mould with plain label stops. Further similar mullioned window to right first
floor, four 2-light casements with glazing bars. Chamfered granite lintels. Hood
moulds and drips, added in C20. On west hipped end, entrance door, possibly
originally window. Hollow chamfered jambs, replaced on lower part. Hood mould and
label stop. Large fireplace with chamfered timber lintel, originally running
across width of house on east gable end. Cloam oven. Fireplace to central room
with chamfered granite lintel. Chamfered lintels over window openings. Lintel
over rear door and flanking windows, ovolo moulded with run out stops. Possibly
reused. Central bedroom with square coved ceiling projecting into roof space.
Ovolo moulded ribs. C18 fielded panelled doors throughout. C19 door surrounds,
dado panelling and staircase taken from Bosahan on the Helford River. Projecting
wing to north-west converted store with loft. Stone base with cob upper walls. 2
storeys, asymmetrical. 2 wings and rear wall of house form courtyard.
