House, formerly farmhouse. C17 origins, C19 and C20 alterations. Whitewashed
stone, partly rendered, thatched roof half-hipped at right end, hipped at left end.
1 brick, 1 massive rendered chimney, brick arches to ground floor windows.
Original plan probably 3 room and through passage, former heated parlour at higher
end now single-storey flat-roofed projection. Former outbuilding adjoining left
end now incorporated as part of house accommodation. Single depth with short rear
gabled projection. 2 storeys. 3 window, asymmetrical front with off-centre
entrance. Probable rebuilding at higher end of former through passage has higher
roof, lower roof over former outbuilding at lower end. Ground floor window left 2-
light C19 casement, 6 panes per light. Small fixed window to former pantry to left
of front door. Ground floor window right 16 pane C19 sash. First floor window
left 3-light C20 casement, 2 panes per light. Other first floor windows similar 2-
light casements. Thatch slightly eyebrowed over first floor windows. Single
storey store room at right end roofed with corrugated iron.
Interior. Entrance into former through passage, wide rear door opposed to front
door. Ground floor room to right of former passage has massive fireplace with
cloam oven and unhewn fireplace beam. Ground floor room to left of former passage
has massive fireplace with cloam oven. Late C17 stair with turned balusters to
left of former passage, balusters to right hand side only. Principals visible in
first floor rooms, some roof timbers said to have been replaced when corrugated
iron roof was replaced with thatch. Store room to right was 2-storey with gable
end chimney.
