GV II

Pair of cottages, converted to one house. Circa early C19 converted into one house
soon after built. Painted cob over stone footings, slate sills, wooden lintels. Dry
Delabole slate roof with brick chimneys over gable ends, the left hand breast is
external, now partly enclosed by later lean-to.
Plan: Two virtually identical single cell houses with entrance passages adjoining
back to back at the middle with L stairs at the rear of each. Extended later C19 by
lean-to outhouse at left.
Two storeys. Originally symmetrical 2 window south front with doorways close
together at the middle, the right hand doorway is partly blocked and has circa early
C19 window, the left hand doorway has originally ledged door with small pane
inserted. The windows are all early C19 12-pane horizontal sliding sashes.
Interior retains most of its original carpentry and joinery including the stairs and
some doors.
One of a group of unspoiled houses near the head of the beautiful Gillan Creek.
