House. C18, extended in early C19 and C20. Red and gault brick in Flemish
bond, roofed with slate. T-plan facing S, with internal stacks at each side and
external stack at rear end. Stair tower in right rear angle. Early C19
entrance range to front, extending slightly to left of original front, of gault
brick, with internal stacks at each side. C20 flat-roofed extension to rear,
linking house to formerly freestanding ancillary range to right, of red brick
roofed with handmade red clay tiles, and C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension
beyond. 2 storeys and attics. S elevation, ground floor, 2 tripartite sashes
of 4-12-4 lights. First floor, 3 early C19 sashes of 16 lights in long and
short panes, with crown glass. Central half-glazed door with side lights, and
C20 classical porch with fluted columns and 4 stone steps. Long overhanging
eaves on profiled brackets with turned pendants. The left return of the
original building has 2 original sashes of 16 lights on the ground floor, and on
the first floor one similar sash and an oval stone plaque with gauged brick
surround, and faint inscription reported to have date 1769. The original house
has a gambrel roof with vertically hung slates on the 3 ends of the attic
storey. The rear wing has a moulded string at first floor and a dentilled
course below the eaves. Built as the Vicarage or Rectory.
