Farmhouse. C18. Slatestone rubble walls with dressed granite quoins slate sills and
timber lintels. Hipped dry Delabole slate roof to front and gable ended wing to rear
left. Brick chimneys over side wall, right (south), over rear wall, left of middle,
and over front wall left (originally left-hand side wall of house).
Plan of overall L plus 1-room single-storey garage extension at right angles to left-
hand side of house adjoining barn (qv), and rectangular walled courtyard at rear with
attached lean-tos. Single depth plus linking passage. 2 rooms to each arm of L.
This house has clearly been remodelled. Originally a 2-room central stair 3- 5-
window south front house of circa early C18, then a wing added on the left (west) at
right angles, blocking left-hand side of front and with the new front on its west
wall. At probably the same time extra openings were cut in the original rear (north)
wall.
2 storeys plus attic. Circa late C18/early C19 nearly symmetrical west front.
Openings grouped towards right with doorway nearly central to fenestration. Circa
1900 2-window gable ended brick porch with top-glazed door to right-hand (south) side
wall. Windows are taller to first floor. Horned replacement sashes, except original
24-pane hornless sash to first floor left, and 16-pane hornless sashes to closer
spaced original hipped roof dormers. Further hornless 16 and 20-pane sashes to 4-
window north wall, plus two 2-light casements to ground floor left, each with 1
original C18 6-pane light and mid floor window on far left. Evidence of blocked
openings in original south wall.
Interior not inspected except open garage adjoining barn with some fine resited
bolection moulded panelling.
A house with a curious plan development.
