ST NEWLYN EAST TREWERRY
SW 85 NW
1/18 Road bridge at
Trewerry Mill
GV II
Road bridge. Possibly medieval in origin, last rebuilt in late C19. Killas stone
and concrete. A single carriageway bridge carrying the Newlyn-Trerice road-over
the Lappa on 3 stilted arches, the centre arch round-headed and side arches segmental.
Bridge subsequently extended to ease humpback, with two further segmental arches each
side. C2O road formation between in-situ concrete kerbs carrying iron-pipe railings,
and coarse weak concrete piers each end. The arches rebuilt on upstream side in
in-insitu concrete. A picturesque bridge representing many phases of alteration,
including early work in mass concrete.
