TL 80 NW WOODHAM WALTER -

3/10000 Barn about 30m SE of
Whitehouse Farmhouse

Barn. Circa early C19. Weatherboarded timber frame on brick
plinth. Corrugated iron sheet roof with gabled ends. Plan: 5-bay
barn, central threshing bay with midstrey on north side; the midstrey with integral store or granary on its west side. Later
outshut added to south side. Exterior: North front has gabled
midstrey at centre, its roof carried down as catslide on right
over integral store. At rear (S) a large outshut, weatherboarded
and with corrugated asbestos sheet roof. Interior: Complete frame
survives, some of the timbers reused from an earlier building.
Mid-rail, diagonal straight tension-braces and wall studs.
Unjowled posts with curved knees to tie-beams. Straight collars
dovetail lap-jointed to common rafters and clasping thin purlins.
Common rafters intact and with ridgeboard. Stone-paved threshing
floor survives.
