House. Circa 1760 and extended soon after. Rendered and painted over slatestone
rubble and cob. Asbestos slate roof with brick chimneys over original gable end and
hip to extension (north).
Plan: 2 rooms flanking central stair originally, plus slightly later 1-room extension
on right (north).
2 storeys. Originally nearly symmetrical 3-window east front, with doorway, and
window over, slightly off-centre to left. Addition to right circa mid-late C18 has
window to ground and first floor. C20 glazed porch at original entrance. Further
doorway slightly to right of porch has C20 16-pane 2-light casement. Otherwise C18
casement windows survive with much original. glass. All with 2 lights and 8 panes per
light except wider 3-light one to left of doorway and 2-light casement over doorway
with 15 panes per light. C18 16-pane 2-light casement also to ground floor north
wall. Many original L hinges with pintails. Mullions and glazing bars have internal
mouldings.
Interior has 3 original bowtell moulded beams to middle room and original hearths
with cranked oak lintels, possibly reused ships timbers. First floor rooms and roof
structure not inspected.
