Farmhouse and wall to front. Circa late C18 and extended late C19 making 3 houses.
Slatestone rubble and cob with wooden lintels to original part and slatestone rubble
with granite litnels to C19 part. Steep corrugated asbestos roof (originally
thatched) with brick chimneys over gable ends to C18 part and dry Delabole slate with
hip to left (east) over C19 part. Axial brick chimney over cross wall and wide
brick chimney, rebuilt C19, shared with C18 house.
Plan of original house is of 2 nearly equal rooms flanking cross passage leading to
stair parallel to and adjoining back wall to rear of right-hand (west room) plus
later lean-to, right (west). C19 part was originally 2 houses each with 2 rooms with
left-hand house projecting farther to rear and with front to east end of range.
2 storeys. North front is 5-window range of taller C19 house, left, with 1- and 2-
window fronts, and on higher ground, right, original nearly symmetrical C18 2-window
front with central doorway with original 4-panel door. Small C20 gabled wooden
porch. Original 12-pane hornless sashes to rubble ground floor and original 16-pane
hornless sashes to rendered-cob first floor. Large rubble buttress to right-hand
corner and some ground floor walling repaired in the C19. All sashes and 12-pane 2-
light casement for stair, to middle of rear wall, have fairly wide glazing bars with
internal ovolo-mouldings and much original crown glass. C19 part has original 12-
paned horned sashes, and doorways under left-hand first floor window and left of
middle to second house.
Interior of C18 house is simple with large hearth to right-hand (west) room,
panelled window shutters, and panelled doors. Roof structure not inspected but said
to be old.
Rubble coped rubble wall to front of C18 house. A little altered C18 house with its
original windows and with sympathetic C19 extension.
