II
Farmhouse, now house. Mid C19 with some C20 alterations. Slatestone rubble, right
side rendered, slate-hung front and left side. Roof has asbestos slates to front
slope, slurried slate to rear, with ridge tiles and gable ends, gable end stacks with
brick shaft to left, rendered shaft to right.
Plan: Double depth plan with central entrance through porch, probably of later C19;
principal room to front right and left with service rooms and stair to rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window range, all C19 16-pane sashes. Central
later C19 porch with hipped galvanised iron roof, margin glazed windows and margin
glazed door with scalloped valance. 3 hipped dormers, each with 16-pane sash. Left
side has ground and first floor 2-light casement of 8-pane sash, in rear service
rooms. Right side has small single storey rubble privy with slate roof. Rear has 2
windows, all 2-light casements with cambered heads and jambs in-banded stone, off-
centre to left at first floor, similar stair light. One hipped dormer with 2-light
10-pane casement, and C20 rooflight. Attached to rear, a long single storey L-plan
range of outhouses with slurried slate roofs, of later C19, concealing the rear left
door to the kitchen.
Interior: The front rooms have 4-panelled doors. To rear of central entrance hall,
dog-leg stair with stick balusters and columnar newels. Rear left dairy with slate
floor, slate shelves and central slate table. Salting room between dairy and stair
well, also with slate floor and granite trough and slate shelf. Rear right kitchen,
with boxed service stair, now closed.
