6/14 Newham Hall Lodge
G.V. II
Lodge, 1880; at entrance to Newham Hall. Coursed rockfaced sandstone
rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings. Lakeland slate roof with clay
ridge tiles and stone gable copings with kneelers. Jacobethan style. One
storey and attic; 3-bay entrance front (south-east). Central part-glazed
door and overlight, in moulded surround, under wood bracketed, gabled hood.
Left, 4-light chamfered-mullioned canted bay window with ribbed
cyma-reversa-swept lead roof. Sashes with glazing bars in upper sashes.
Right, 3-light window under relieving arch. One-bay right return has
projecting triangular-plan, 2-light ground-floor window, with similar roof;
and 3-light attic window. Similar attic window in right return. Rear shows
central gabled stair wing flanked by hip-roofed outshuts, and corniced
lateral stack.
