Almshouses: originally 6, now 4; 1761 on inscribed plaque, in middle of
centre block. Brick with mid C20 concrete tiled hipped roof and 3 ridge
stacks. Single storey, having projecting wings to left and right.
Symmetrical arrangement of 4 mid C20 doors and 4 mid C20 casement windows,
those to wings being in original openings, those to centre being in enlarged
openings with brick voussoirs extended over. Blocked doorway in inner face
of each side wing. Plaque records: "This Hospital for Six Widows or
Unmarried Women Above Fifty Years of Age Was Founded by DORMER PARKHURST
ESQ., Master of Greatham Hospital In the Year 1761."
