House within rectangular moated site. Mid C17 with later
alterations and additions. Dressed sandstone; clay pantile roof;
stone ridge and gable copings, stacks at N.W. and S.E. gables.
N.E. wing projects forward to form "L" shaped plan. 2 storeys.
A projecting flue, corbelled out at first floor level in the
centre of the N.W. gable is flanked-by early and mid C19 sashes
with glazing bars on each floor. 5 bays to main range (N.W.
elevation). Mid C18 sashes with glazing bars in place of
mullioned casements on first floor; original ground-floor windows
obliterated by larger mid C18 and mid C19 sashes with glazing
bars, and gabled mid C19 porch of matching materials to house.
Oval window with drip mould in tympanum of S.W. gable; blocked
original window openings below. Plinth; string band between
floors.
Mid C19 gabled extensions to S.E. and N.E. Sandstone ashlar,
pantile roofs. 2 storeys. Sash windows, some with drip moulds.
String band between floors. Interior: mid C19 plasterwork to
ceilings; open-well staircase; and carved chimney pieces.
