Public house (originally a coaching inn). Early C.19. Chevron
dressed sandstone, rendered and painted. Hipped clay Gaelic-tile
roof. 3 brick stacks to ridges. 2 storeys. Simple portico to
R.H.S. with round columns with entasis, but without bases; heavy
entablature, pilasters. 3-light bow window to L.H.S. with late
C.19 sashes and narrow cornice. Paired sash window to first
floor. All other windows in the building have been altered.
The listing includes the lower 2-storey contemporary, outbuilding
adjoining the rear (S. side), fronting onto Bow Street. Painted
sandstone; clay pantile roof. The listing also includes
the cottage adjoining the (W) side of No.19. Mid C.19. Painted
chevron dressesd sandstone; Welsh slate roof, brick stack to
R.H.S. 2 storeys, one bay. Paired sashes with moulded stone
mullions and lintels.
