G.V. II
Watermill, mid C18, left-hand part refronted early/mid C19. On site of C14
mill. Dressed sandstone; hammer-dressed sandstone to refronted part. Roof
of clay pantiles; mid C20 concrete tiles on right end. Stone ridge and
gable copings and block kneelers. 2 storeys and basement, 3 bays to mill.
Boarded door and overlight at right; stair to doorway missing. Ground floor
windows and that at right on first floor have slender timber mullions with
glass now missing. Frames missing from other windows. Central stable door
in basement and similar mullioned windows at left and right. Wheel housing
to right has altered window to right of boarded door. Boarded door to right
of passage for race in basement. Stack at north-east angle of wheel
housing. Five stone steps lead to boarded door in left-hand return of mill.
Interior: lowered tie beam supports queenpost roof trusses with spur-ties at
eaves level braced back to lower tie. 2 levels of butt purlins. Mid C19
mill machinery and undershot wheel intact. Disused and dilapidated at time
of survey.
