Farmhouse. Dated with initials on bressumer between ground and first
floors, "I.S. 1658" with later additions and alterations. Timber
framed with wattle and daub and brick infill. Plain tile roof,
originally thatched. Two storeys. Entrance front: stone base.
Gabled wing to left with 7 x 2 cells at ground floor level with cement
rendered infill. Five-light C19 casement. Slight overhang to first
floor, ovolo moulded underside to inscribed bressumer. First floor
small framing of 8 x 3 cells with angle braces with brick infill.
Queen-post truss to gable with upright struts to either side. C19
2-bay addition to right. Left hand side (original entrance front):
gabled porch wing to left of centre with 3 x 2 cells of small framing
to ground floor and 2-light casement window. Corner posts have
consoles supporting overhanging first floor which also has coved cells
containing wattle and daub infill. Small framing to first floor and
two-light casement window. Consoles supporting gable and ovolo
moulding to gable bressumer with run-out stops. The right and left
hand sides of the porch wing both have small framing with a blocked
doorway to right of right-hand side. Uppermost row of cells in both
sides have wattle and daub infill. To right of porch wing are 6 x 3
cells of small framing at ground floor level and 7 x 3 cells to the
overhanging first floor with angle braces and an ovolo mould to the
underside of the bressumer. Three-light casement windows to ground
and first floors. To left of the porch wing are 3 x 2 cells of small
framing to the ground floor and 4 x 3 cells to the first floor with a
later clasping buttress to the left hand corner. Again the uppermost
row of cells on both sides retains its wattle and daub infill.
