6/26 The Vale Royal Abbey

Public House: 1818 with later C19 extensions. Tooled ashlar red
sandstone. Hipped Welsh slate roof and 3 stone chimneys. 2 and
3-storey symmetrical 5-bay front. End bays are lower additions with
flat roofs and 16-pane sashes. 2nd and 4th bays have 2-light wooden
casements with glazing bars under flat wedged lintels. Central bay
has a gabled porch with semi-circular arched entrance with moulded
imposts, studded door behind. Above this are the boldly moulded Vale
Royal Abbey arms in a surround with the building's name in gothic
script carved on the sill. Casement above. Some extension to the
rear.
